Since becoming a creator in the copy trading space, I get asked constantly by people:
“Is copy trading profitable?”
If you asked me this question three years ago, I might have told you no (as a newbie who wasn’t able to find any success). But fast forward to where I am now, and the answer is most certainly yes.
Copy trading can be extremely profitable.
It can also be extremely unprofitable. It really just depends on how you are doing it.
Now I’m not talking about the forex nonsense copy trading where you give someone else your money and then have to share a portion of the profits with them. No, I’m talking about the real, degen copy trading on the Solana network where you have full control over your bots. You can buy, you can sell whenever you want. You can take profit. You have full customization.
Plus you get 100% of any money that you make.
Can anyone profit from real copy trading? Absolutely. The opportunity out there is actually astonishing.
I just found a trader today whose last trade went up 10,000% in a few hours. He didn’t sell right away, he ended up selling for 20x, but there was a 100x potential on that trade. Meaning, if I had invested $100 with him for that trade, I would have made $10,000 in a few hours.
Whether you find traders like this or traders who consistently win 30-40% at a time, there are so many guys out there making ludicrous amounts of money. And it is 100% possible for you to do the same.
Copy trading is profitable, hands down, and I’m going to prove it to you in this article.
The Reality of Copy Trading (Pre 2025)
As I alluded to before, if you ask me if copy trading was profitable a few years ago, I probably would have told you no. I lost thousands of dollars in the early days of copy trading, mainly because there were no tools for analyzing wallets correctly. That exists in 2025 right now.
Basically, when you found a wallet, you simply had to look at the stats, eyeball the trades, and then test these traders out manually which was expensive and time-consuming.
Plus, the bots that were available were not nearly as good as they are now, so buying trades at good entry points was much more difficult, and using things like stop-loss and take-profit were unreliable if they existed at all.
Things are different now. The technology is seriously fire, and that’s why in 2025 copy trading is very profitable. But most people don’t know what they are doing. Which is why most people lose money.
Why Most Copy Traders Are Not Profitable
Even though copy trading is most certainly profitable, as I’m going to prove later with case studies and examples. I first want to talk about why most copy traders are not profitable, and why the game gets a bad rep. Here are why most people never make any money.
1: No Risk Management Plan
Man, if I had a dollar for every time a trader came to me and said, “Man, I was up $1500 yesterday.” And then I went to bed and my wallet, who I was copying, drained my entire balance.
If you talk to most copy traders, they’ll tell you a story – something like this: “They made a bunch of money in copy trading and then they lost it all.”
It’s classic and super unnecessary.
You need to make it really hard to lose money and really easy to make money. While this sounds very simple, it’s not. Most people have no idea how to do this, but I do.
Copy trading bots have come such a long way that protection of capital is relatively simple if you understand what you are doing.
I’ll also teach you this later on, but for now, let’s jump into the last thing that makes it hard to profit in copy trading.
2: Trying to make money too fast.
Copy trading is the dream.
The idea of being able to find a trader who sits at his computer all day like a machine, researching and making trades- and being able to do the exact same thing while sitting on the beach making love to your girlfriend or sleeping is fantastic.
They rush.
And when they rush, they lose.
They often get overwhelmed trying to trade too many traders at once. They don’t properly test traders with small amounts of money for a long enough period and they end up getting burned.
It’s easily avoidable but it requires patience.
Our number one goal at copytrader.com is to not lose money.
Our number two goal is to not lose money.
And finally, our third goal is to make consistent profit.
3: People are simply guessing
The last hurdle that gets in the way of people being profitable from copy trading is that people are simply guessing which traders to copy. Up until now, there have not been any real analytics tools that could properly tell you if you could win or not with a trader, which is why so many copy traders lose money.
I’ve been a website developer, a coder, and a copy trader for years and I was tired of losing. So what I did was I created my own tools that used AI and advanced algorithms to be able to tell you exactly whether you can win or not with a wallet before even risking a single dollar.
And they work.
Those are the reasons why most people are not profitable when it comes to copy trading. But let’s look at the ones who are. Here are some fantastic examples of profitable copy traders from multiple industries, including Forex and Cryptocurrency.
Examples of Profitable Copy Traders
It’s not really enough for me to tell you that copy trading is profitable—because I run a copy trading company and clearly benefit from people getting into this industry.
But when I tell you it’s profitable, I mean it. To back that up, here are some real, recent examples of traders who are making solid income through copy trading. These are personal stories, community legends, and even platform-wide case studies proving that this strategy isn’t just hype—it works when used properly.
1. Sean Russell
Yep, that’s me. My name is Sean, and I’m a copy trader. I’m writing this article preaching about how copy trading can be profitable because I make money copy trading on a regular basis.
Like I mentioned before, most people do lose money copy trading, and I was in that category for over two years. But it wasn’t until I slowed down, I stopped trying to make money fast, and I developed the right tools that I was able to start making money on a consistent basis.
Since then I’ve taken multiple accounts from one Solana to five Solana within one week. This is something I like to do. And I’m currently running one account which has been making slow and consistent gains while I work on my business.
Below are some of my recent wins with some screenshots from my Odin Bot account. I’ll show you that I have some traders who are doing really well for me.

Here’s a guy I found the other day who I am testing with. 4 Tokens traded, up almost $120 USD.
Here’s a few nice wins from this week:

2. Ragassi
I don’t know who Ragassi is, but he seems like a really cool dude.
He’s one of the main figures in the Odin Bot Discord group and he’s consistently posting huge wins and winning the trading competitions that Odin Bot hosts. I’ve seen his wallet myself, and while he definitely trades a different style than me, as he’s talked about on his x account, he made over $120,000 in profit copy trading which is very impressive.

The Ragassi style strategy is a little bit different than mine, which is more conservative and more of a “take it slow” kind of thing. He must have a lot of money behind his account because he trades a lot of wallets at the same time and is able to absorb all the little losses over time, which allow him to eventually get some enormous wins which make up for it and more.
This is a very viable strategy, but most people can’t handle it because they start with a small amount of money and as soon as they lose 3-4 times in a row they freak out, turn their bot off, and they miss the big win. This kind of strategy requires patience, trust, and a little bit of a bankroll. So you can wait, wait, wait, wait until you finally get the big payout. And it’s truly working for him, so well done.

3. Bitget Copy Trading – $74 Million in Profit
If you want proof that copy trading works at scale, look no further than Bitget. In their 2023 mid-year report, they revealed:
- 109,000+ users profited from copy trading
- $74+ million in USDT earned in just 6 months
- 93% of futures copy traders were profitable
- 82% of spot copy traders were profitable
These weren’t all pros. These were everyday users who picked the right traders, followed the strategy, and let the system do the work.

4. Solana Whale Wallet – 3.6 SOL to 18 SOL
In the wild world of Solana memecoins, one YouTuber documented how he mirrored the trades of a successful “whale wallet” using a copy trading bot.
He started with 3.6 SOL and within one week had turned it into 18 SOL—a 5× return—just by automatically following someone who knew what they were doing. This wasn’t luck. He didn’t pick the coin himself. He just followed the wallet.
5. Jay Edward Smith (“JayNemesis”) – 24.6% Return
Not all copy trading happens on crypto networks. Jay Edward Smith, known as @JayNemesis on eToro, is one of the most copied traders on the platform. In a recent 12-month period, he delivered a 24.6% return.
If you had copied him with $1,000, you’d be sitting on about $1,246—without lifting a finger.

So Then, Is Copy Trading Profitable?
I hope that’s enough evidence for you that copy trading is definitely profitable. But remember it’s only profitable if you do it right. The reality of copy trading is that most people who attempt it will lose all their money because they are not guided in using strategies which provide predictable results.
