Imagine making money while someone else does all the trading for you. That’s not a scam — it’s called copy trading, and in 2025, it’s one of the fastest-growing ways to get into the markets without needing to be a chart-obsessed crypto junkie.
In this guide, I’ll explain exactly what copy trading is, how it works, how to get started, and how beginners are using tools like CopyTraderr to find and analyze profitable traders — especially on fast networks like Solana. Let’s do it.
What is Copy Trading?
Copy trading is a strategy that lets you automatically copy the trades of another trader — whether they’re a human expert or a trading bot. When they buy or sell, so do you.
Think of it like copying your smart friend’s homework… except it’s legal, automated, and can make you money.
Unlike signal groups or portfolio management, copy trading is real-time, automated trade mirroring.
No manual clicking required.
You can copy trade in any market, whether that’s crypto currency or the stock exchange – but for the purpose of this article we will focus on the Solana network – a popular crypto currency known for it’s 2-3 Billion Dollar/Day meme coin market where people are making insane amounts of money in a manner of minutes. This is one of the best markets for copy trading because of it’s volatility or price action.
But the following applies to any market so you can take these principles and copy trade anywhere.
How Does Copy Trading Work?
Copy trading works by using bot or platforms that automatically buy and sell any crypto or stocks that your selected trader buys.
It’s possible, and legal, because all trading is public knowledge.
For example, all transaction records on the Solana network (a popular crypto currency network known for it’s lucrative meme coins) are recorded and available for anyone to see on site like Solscan.com.

Every single Solana wallet is visible to the public, and all trades that wallet makes are visible in real time. And many platforms like GMGN.ai make it very easy to see a traders trades, win rate, ROI and other stats so you can decide if they are someone you want to copy.

There’s no hiding from guys like me 😈
Copy trading varies slightly between different networks, but the core concept remains the same.
1: You find the traders public wallet address
2: You put the address into a bot
3: The bot automatically buys and sells
Plus, you can completely program your bot to buy with any amount, sell after any drop or take profit at a certain level. For complete guide on setting up every copy trading bot check out the Copy Traderr Youtube Channel.
The result: You either make money, or lose money, completely passively.
These traders spend hours researching and finding the best plays. You spend your time finding the best traders. Two ways to play the same game.
Both have their pros and cons – It just depends what you prefer.
The benefit of copy trading is that once you find a trader, you literally set and forget it. Also you can run dozens of traders at the same time, trading at a frequency not possible on your own.
“I truly believe that copy trading is the most accessible means of passive income in 2025. And the common man has no idea it even exists. It’s easy, you are able to manage your risk, and there is unlimited upside without the need for major time invested.”
Copy trading bots have become so powerful and easy to use that they can copy a traders actions (buys or sells) within 1 second – meaning you get a similar price entry or exit to the trader. This is VERY important as entry and exit are everything in the copy trading world.
You can customize your risk settings — max trade size, stop loss, take profit, and pause copying anytime.
Is Copy Trading Profitable?
Copy trading is certainly profitable, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
The reality is that most traders are not profitable when copy trading because they don’t understand how the game truly works. You can copy a trader and he can make money, and you can lose money very easily because of price differential, also known as slippage.
However, it can absolutely be done and be very lucrative when you get to that level, it’s quite fun. To learn more about whether or not copy trading is profitable, check out this entire article we wrote on the facts proving that it is with various examples of profitable traders found around the web.

Types of Copy Trading
There are different ways to go about copy trading. I’ll break down the three most common means of copy trading in 2025 so you can figure out which is the best option for you.
1: Manual Copy Trading
Manual copy trading is when you manually track traders and their trades and then you buy the positions on your own, on your favorite platforms. It’s a slow approach, and you’ll never compete in regards to speed with the bots. But there are some advantages to it. You have complete control and can wait for a good entry. If a trader buys and the price spikes up but then comes down 20-30%, you can enter at a later time and then wait to see when they sell.
But it requires being on your laptop all the time waiting for trades and then having to do them manually. So it doesn’t really work if you’ve got a busy schedule or if the trader who you like is trading from Hong Kong while you live in New York.
Pros: Less automation, more flexibility. Lowers your risk potential.
Cons: Requires you to be present on your laptop all the time.
2: Automated Copy Trading
In fully automated copy trading, you use a bot to buy and sell automatically whenever the trader does.
This allows you the freedom of trading at any time without having to actively be a part of it. You can trade while you’re at the beach. You can trade while you’re asleep. And you can sit there and watch it happen at your computer if you want.
Pros: Trades are mirrored automatically using bots or scripts. Set it and forget it.
Cons: Less control over your entry points.
3: Semi-Automatic Copy Trading
Semi-automatic copy trading is the best of both worlds. You set up your bots to trade automatically, but every time there’s a buy or a sell you get an alert to your phone.
Instead of ignoring those alerts and letting the trader complete the trade, you can actively sell your position manually at any time.
So if you see you’re up 200% and he hasn’t sold yet, you can sell half just in case he drops the ball.
If a trader is not doing well that day, you can simply turn him off.
Basically, in semi-automated copy trading, your bots are doing all the work, but you are overseeing it like a manager. This is personally my favorite form of copy trading.
I also do something where, as the trade goes up in value, I slowly increase my stop loss to follow behind the trade and increase my take profit to stay a little bit ahead of the trade, so I can maximize my upside. But once the trade starts turning around, I can quickly secure profits. We teach stuff like that in our advanced copy trading courses, so we can get deeper into that later.
4: Social Copy Trading
Social copy trading has become a thing on platforms like eToro. This is really cool and utilizes social feeds, leaderboards, and the ability to copy traders on those various widgets. It can gamify the whole thing a bit more and make it even more fun than it already is.
Copy Trading by Market
Now that you know what copy trading is, let’s dive into different markets that you can potentially dive into as a copy trader so you can decide which one is right for you.
1: Copy Trading Crypto (Solana, Ethereum, BNB)
When it comes to copy trading, in my opinion, crypto is king.
Crypto trading goes on 24/7 and is extremely volatile, meaning that you can make a lot of money very fast. Right now, the best copy trading is happening in the meme coin space. There are thousands of meme coins being made every hour. And there are tens of billions of dollars in volume flowing through meme coin platforms every single day. There are thousands of traders to choose from, and finding wallets is relatively easy in 2025. Plus, the bots make it extremely easy to manage your risk and limit your downside if you know what you’re doing.
If you don’t yet know what you’re doing, then click the link in the sidebar of this page and sign up to our beginner level copy trading course where I’ll teach you from A to Z exactly how to get into copy trading crypto and how to set up your free bots and manage your risk so you can make automated passive income while you sleep.
Take a look at this trade, it’s a good example of a trader I just found, who enters a trade relatively easy and within a few hours the trade is up 2,600%.

He bought twice and exited over 8-10 sells for a 26x, which is a fantastic result. If you had him plugged into your copy trading bot and your settings were correct, then you would have executed the same trade. If your trade size was set to be $100 per buy, then you would have made about $5,200 on this trade. Not too shabby for a days work.
This is not uncommon when copy trading crypto. That being said, you need to know how to find these kinds of wallets and have a basic understanding of what you are doing in order to start capturing trades like this. That’s why we created our platform to help you do so.
2: Copy Trading The Forex Market
Forex (short for foreign exchange) is the global marketplace for exchanging one currency for another — like trading U.S. dollars for euros, or Japanese yen for British pounds. It’s the largest and most liquid financial market in the world, with over $7.5 trillion traded daily.
You’re essentially betting that one currency will rise or fall in value relative to another in pairs. For example EUR/USD pair would be betting the Euro against the USD. If the euro gets stronger, you make money. If it gets weaker, you lose money.
I find this type of copy trading super confusing personally and not nearly as fun as copy trading crypto. Most forex copy trading is done over the course of months and may yield a 30% return in the best scenario. For me I like fast trading every day, with the opportunity to make 10,000% gains. Sounds unrealistic, but the crazy thing is it’s not.

3: Stocks & Indices
Copy trading in the stock market is a popular and accessible way for investors to passively grow their wealth by automatically mirroring the trades of successful stock traders.
Platforms like eToro, ZuluTrade, and Collective2 make this easy by offering transparent profiles, performance data, and real-time execution. It’s especially attractive to beginners and busy investors who want exposure to the market without researching individual stocks.
The most successful copy trading strategies tend to focus on long-term investing or ETF portfolios rather than high-frequency day trading. While it carries moderate risk, following traders with strong historical returns and consistent performance metrics can be a reliable way to gain steady returns.
4: Commodities & Gold
Copy trading in commodities and gold is less mainstream but growing in popularity, especially among traders looking to hedge against inflation or diversify beyond stocks and crypto. This typically involves mirroring traders who buy and sell futures contracts, CFDs, or commodity-tracking ETFs like GLD (for gold) or USO (for oil).
Platforms such as eToro, NinjaTrader, and Collective2 offer access to these strategies, although the risk is significantly higher due to volatility and leverage.
It’s a more speculative approach best suited for intermediate or advanced traders, but with the right strategy and timing, it can be a powerful tool for capitalizing on macroeconomic trends like rising gold prices or energy demand spikes.
Is Copy Trading Risky?
Copy trading is absolutely risky.
Copy trading is not something that you replace your 401k with or your mutual fund or your long-term investments. Copy trading is something that you partake in with some money that you’ve put aside or saved up and that you are willing to lose.
When people first get into copy trading, I always tell them to save up $1000 (or any amount of money that you don’t need to survive) and put this money in your copy trading account similar to how you would deposit money into a betting app like DraftKings.
You can then use this money to try to turn it into $2,000, and then $10,000, and then $20,000, and so forth. But you should never risk money copy trading if you need that money for survival because copy trading is very volatile and is a high-risk investment strategy.
With that being said, it is also a very high reward investment strategy which is why it is so appealing. And you don’t need to start with a lot of money to turn that into a huge sum of money over the course of a few months. But it’s not guaranteed, and many people lose all of their money copy trading.
You need to be aware of these risks before you start.

Pros and Cons of Copy Trading
We’ve been going over the goods and the bads of copy trading throughout the article, but here’s a quick summary of the pros and cons of copy trading vs. other investment styles.
✅ Pros
- No trading experience required
- Saves time
- Learn by observing successful traders
- Diversify across multiple strategies
❌ Cons
- Risk of loss if trader fails
- Less control over trades
- Some Telegram bots may “rug pull”
- Blind copying can be dangerous
Copy trading is a skill, and with time and practice, you can learn to avoid scammers and people who create tokens that “rug” or go to zero within seconds. But like any skill, this takes time, practice, and many mistakes before you reach a point of consistent competency. Start small and be patient.

On regulated platforms like eToro, copy trading is legal and safe.
In the crypto space (especially with bots on Solana), it’s unregulated — meaning you need to do your own research and start small. But it is relatively safe and reliable as long as you are using trusted bots.
Here are the list of bots which I recommend, to trust, and to use myself:
- Odin Bot – Solana Only
- D Bot X – All Crypto Chains
- Tradewiz – Telegram Based Solana Bot
- Trojan Bot – Telegram Based Solana Bot
- Maestro – Telegram Based Solana Bot Supporting All Crypto Chains

Frequently Asked Questions
Is copy trading legit?
Yes — it’s used globally across both traditional and crypto markets. Regulation varies by platform. Many traders make significant amounts of money copy trading, and this money is able to be withdrawn and used immediately.
Can you make money with copy trading?
Yes, but only if you follow good traders and set proper risk limits. Most traders lose money when trying to copy trade because they do not do it right. But with the proper training and techniques, anyone can make money copy trading.
What’s the best copy trading bot on Solana?
Odin Bot is purpose-built for Solana, with fast execution and low fees. It has the best settings and, in my opinion, the best web-based interface for setting up and managing all of your trades. In 2nd place I would have to say D-Bot X because Odin Bot only supports Solana while D-Bot X supports Ethereum and other cryptocurrency chains and also has a very nice web-based interface, a simulator, and all the necessary settings to win at copy trading.
Is copy trading good for beginners?
Absolutely. It’s one of the easiest ways to start trading without needing deep technical knowledge. It’s more of a mathematical numbers game and instead of analyzing trades and economic data which is extremely hard, you are just analyzing traders and their success rates. I find it very fun like a game and it is very simple for anyone to get started. See our quick start guide above if you want to start today.
